Global Social Betterment

Global Social Betterment and Humanitarian Programs

All the following programs are sponsored by the Church of Scientology with the goal of making this planet a safer and saner place to live in by providing a solution that is not only unique and cutting edge, but effective for man’s own potential survival on this planet.

The Way to Happiness is comprised of 21 precepts, each one predicated on the fact that one’s survival depends on the survival of all others—and that without the survival of others, no joy and no happiness are attainable.

Today the Church of Scientology sponsors the largest non-governmental information campaign to make the Universal Declaration of Human Rights known the world over.
The Church’s human rights initiative sponsors groups and activities and provides its materials to individuals, groups and government agencies in 82 nations.

Accordingly, in 1969 Scientologists established the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a watchdog group that investigates and exposes psychiatric violations of human rights. Today, CCHR is a worldwide force actively working to eliminate brutal treatments, criminal practices and human rights abuses in the field of mental health. It has been responsible for helping to enact more than 150 laws protecting individuals from abusive or coercive practices in the field of mental health.

To combat this epidemic, the Church of Scientology sponsors the largest nongovernmental anti-drug information and prevention campaign on Earth. It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately. By statistical survey, the Drug-Free World Campaign has thus far prevented some 500,000 young people from recreational drug use…or worse.

Narconon (meaning “no drugs”), the drug rehabilitation and prevention program founded in 1966 and based on the discoveries of L. Ron Hubbard.

The Narconon program not only addresses the mental and physical debilitation precipitated by drug abuse, but also the reasons why an individual turns to drugs in the first place.
As a result, the Narconon success rate is not merely the world’s highest, it is four times better than international averages.

Through the last 30 years, Scientology Volunteer Ministers have provided aid and emergency services at more than 128 worst-case disaster sites. Today, they are among the world’s most recognized independent relief organizations, and have trained tens of thousands of new volunteers on their methods of bringing help in the worst of times and conditions.

Recognizing the failings of the system as far back as the 1950s, L. Ron Hubbard developed an actual “technology” of learning with which to master any subject. These educational breakthroughs are collectively known as Study Technology and provide students at every age and educational level with the ingredient missing from modern education—namely, learning how to learn.

Criminon (which means “no crime”) is an international non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to addressing the causes of criminality and restoring the criminal’s self-respect through effective drug detoxification, education and common sense programs. By making them responsible for their actions, people under the Criminal Justice system can become ethical and productive citizens.
